The two scriptures below are discussing the covenant God made with Abraham.

Galatians 3:14
“That the BLESSING OF Abraham
might come on the Gentiles
through Jesus Christ;
that we might receive THE PROMISE
of the Spirit through faith.”

Galatians 3:29
“And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and HEIRS according to the PROMISE.”

That covenant with Abraham is still in effect today. Although it’s now administered through the “new and living way” in the New Covenant by the blood of Jesus and through the power of God’s Holy Spirit. It’s no longer administered through the “ministration of death” of animal sacrifices that could never erase any sin, which only stood as symbolic credit toward Jesus’ blood (“the blood of the Everlasting Covenant”).

The reason it’s important for us to know that this covenant with Abraham is still valid, binding and in full force is because it is the pathway to our eternal inheritance of salvation. We need to understand the terms of this covenant and how it operates for our good/blessings.

The covenant terms listed are “Blessings” and “Promise”. God made promises to Abraham and to Abraham’s seed which is to Christ.

Galatians 3:16
“Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.”

This spiritual inheritance never came through a physical lineage (although some were both). But when God the Father made these covenant promises to Abraham and to Christ, this ensured that these covenant blessings could only be inherited (passed down) spiritually by faith (Old Testament) and through faith (New Testament) in Jesus Christ as our Redeemer and Messiah.

When we become the children of God through our faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice, we are entering into this covenant of salvation through “the blood of the Everlasting Covenant” and are now spiritually Abraham’s children and therefore we inherit the covenant of our father Abraham. This also means we must keep this Everlasting Covenant in order to receive the promises of God’s covenant which He calls blessings. This is a purely spiritual linage and this same lineage is God’s spiritual nation called Israel.

In the book of Revelation alone we are encouragingly told about at least 20 promised blessings that will come to God’s children who “overcome until the end”; not halfway through, but all the way to the end. We can’t quit midway and expect to receive these final blessings, so we must hold on by the strength that Christ gives us to endure until the end brothers and sisters.

One of the promises of the Everlasting Covenant was that we would receive the Holy Spirit. This is key because it is the Spirit that quickens (imparts our spiritual life) and it is also what seals us with the seal of Jesus Christ – His eternal life; He will never die again and when we are IN Him, we have eternal life too – because of Him.

John 6:27
“Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you:

FOR Him hath God the Father sealed.”

Ephesians 1:13-14
“In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our INHERITANCE until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of His glory.”

Colossians 2:10-11
“And ye are complete IN Him, which is the head of all principality and power:

In Whom also ye are circumcised
with the circumcision made without hands,

in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh BY the circumcision of Christ”
