This is what I hear when I read the scriptures combined with what I see happening around the world today. It looks like the beginning of these prophesies to me. Please take a look.
Isaiah 8:7
“Now therefore, behold,
the Lord bringeth up upon them
the waters of the river,
strong and many,
even the king of Assyria,
and all his glory:
and he shall come up over all his channels,
and go over all his banks”
Isaiah 10:5-6
“O Assyrian, THE ROD of Mine anger, and THE STAFF in their hand is Mine indignation. I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of My wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.”
Isaiah 10:14
“And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, HAVE I GATHERED ALL THE EARTH; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.”
Europe isn’t resisting the Assyrians. They are being allowed to flood over into every land.
The LORD tells His children what’s coming and what we should do, it’s followed with a promise of a permanent deliverance; but also destruction to the wicked and the disobedient children.
Isaiah 10:21-27
“The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God. For though Thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness. For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of ALL THE LAND.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts,
O my people that dwellest in Zion,
be not afraid of the Assyrian:
HE SHALL SMITE THEE WITH A ROD,
and shall lift up his STAFF against thee,
AFTER THE MANNER OF EGYPT.
For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and Mine anger in their destruction. And the LORD of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as His rod was upon the sea, so shall He lift it up after the manner of Egypt. And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”
Isaiah 14:24-27
“The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand: That I will break the Assyrian in My land, and upon My mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders. This is the purpose that is purposed UPON THE WHOLE EARTH: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon ALL THE NATIONS. For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and His hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?”
Isaiah 30:27-28
“Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with His anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: His lips are full of indignation, and His tongue as a devouring fire: And His breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, TO SIFT THE NATIONS with the sieve of vanity: and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err.”
It says that the Lord Jesus Christ will be our refuge and Peace when the Assyrians come into our land.
Micah 5:5
“And this Man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces”
Isaiah 30:31
“For through the voice of the LORD
shall the Assyrian be beaten down,
WHICH SMOTE WITH A ROD.”

That rod the Assyrians smite with may be their religious doctrine because “the rod” in scripture also seems to symbolize doctrine, precepts, laws, judgements and commandments.

Psalms 74:2
“Remember thy congregation, which Thou hast purchased of old; the rod of Thine inheritance, which Thou hast redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein Thou hast dwelt.
Numbers 17:6
“And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, ACCORDING TO their fathers’ houses, EVEN TWELVE RODS: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.”
Jeremiah 10:16
“The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the former of all things; and ISRAEL IS THE ROD OF His inheritance: The LORD of hosts is His name.”
Jeremiah 51:19
“The portion of Jacob is not like them; for he is the former of all things: and Israel is the rodof his inheritance: the LORD of hosts is his name.”

“I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men”
Job 21:9
“Their houses are safe from fear, neither isthe rod of God upon them.”
Psalms 89:32
“Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.”
Proverbs 22:15
“Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.”
Proverbs 23:13
“Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.”
Proverbs 23:14
“Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.”
Proverbs 29:15
“The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.”

AS STRENGTH AND POWER:
Psalms 110:2
“The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.”
Psalms 125:3
“For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.”
(As “rod” is also connected to the word “staff”, we also have this example to examine to further define rod and staff: Isaiah 14:5 “The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the scepter of the rulers.”. God added another layer by adding the word “sceptre”. A scepter is what kings rule with. Their power, strength and rulership was symbolized by a scepter, a rod, a staff. ~ God has broken the power of the wicked ~ and the leadership of the rulers, those in power and authority over the people.)
Jeremiah 48:17
“All ye that are about him, bemoan him; and all ye that know his name, say, How is THE STRONG STAFF broken, and the beautiful ROD!”

“And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of THE COVENANT :”
Micah 6:8-9
“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but TO DO JUSTLY, and TO LOVE MERCY, and TO WALK HUMBLY with thy God? The LORD’S voice crieth unto the city, and the man of wisdom shall see Thy name:
HEAR ye THE ROD,
and who hath appointed it.”
Psalms 23:3-4
“He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in THE PATHS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; THY ROD and THY STAFF they comfort me.”

AS THE BRANCH OF A TREE:
Genesis 30:37
“And Jacob took him rods of green poplar, and of the hazel and chesnut tree; and pilled white strakes in them, and made the white appear which was in the rods.”
(The rod of God was a physical tree branch that symbolized His strength and power)
Exodus 4:20
“And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand.”
Exodus 7:17
“Thus saith the LORD, In this thou shalt know that I am the LORD: behold, I will smite with the rod that is in mine hand upon the waters which are in the river, and they shall be turned to blood.”
1Samuel 14:27
“But Jonathan heard not when his father charged the people with the oath: wherefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in an honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes were enlightened.”
