I just read a post from a very well known Pastor who promises that if you belong to Jesus, you can never be lost; but that’s NOT what Jesus says.

In Luke chapter 12, Jesus is talking about a servant who makes a decision whether to obey his Master’s will or not. If this servant of the Lord is obedient, Jesus says he will be rewarded with eternal life, but if this very same servant of God stops obeying and living in unrepentant sinning, he will be given the wages of sin which is death and damnation, the same “portion with the unbelievers”. That’s why Jesus taught His disciples to put away sin daily and to be living in continual repentance, as the Lord’s Prayer describes.

Luke 12:45-46
“But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken: The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion WITH THE UNBELIEVERS.

1Corinthians 9:27
“But I keep under my body, and bring itinto subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”

2Peter 2:20-21
“For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.”

Jesus warned the New Testament churches in Revelation chapter 2 & 3 to repent or else He would destroy them with death.

1Thessalonians 5:19
“Quench not the Spirit.”

If it was impossible to quench (lose) the Holy Spirit of God, this scripture wouldn’t exist or be necessary.

If it was impossible to fall from grace, then the apostle Paul wouldn’t have told the Galatians that they had “fallen from grace”.

Galatians 5:4
“Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; YE ARE FALLEN FROM GRACE.”
